MCP prompt templates
Five copy-paste prompts for Claude, Cursor, Codex and n8n: campaign results, a launch setup, weak links, weekly changes and a Slack report.
On this page8
Once the useClick MCP server is connected (see MCP server), you can ask your AI assistant about your links and websites in plain language. These five prompts work in Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and any other MCP client. Replace acme.com, go.acme.com and the campaign names with your own.
Every prompt asks the assistant to show the numbers it used. That makes answers easy to check against your dashboard.
Before you start
- Campaign links: links grouped into campaigns, with UTM tags (Starter and above).
- A signup signal: your site calls
window.useclick('signup')after a signup, or has a thank-you page. Custom events are recorded on every plan. - Goals (Growth and above) connect signups to the short link that brought the visitor. The assistant reads them with
list_goals.
1. Which campaign brought the most signups?
Using useClick, look at the last 30 days on acme.com. List my campaigns with
their total clicks, then the signups from list_goals and get_custom_events.
Which campaign brought the most signups, and which had the best signups per
click? Show the numbers you used.Tools used: list_links, get_link_analytics, list_goals, get_custom_events.
2. Set up a product launch in one prompt
Create short links on go.acme.com for https://acme.com/launch in a new
campaign called fall_launch: one each for newsletter (email), linkedin
(social), x (social) and a partner called northwind (referral). Use slugs
like launch-email. Add utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign=fall_launch.
Then give me the list as a table with the short links.Tools used: create_short_link. Campaigns and UTM tags need the Starter plan or above; on Free the assistant creates the links without them.
3. Find underperforming links
List my links with at least 100 clicks in the last 30 days. For each one
that points at acme.com, compare its clicks with the signups that came from
short links. Which links get clicks but rarely lead to signups? Suggest one
change per link.Tools used: list_links, get_link_analytics, list_goals.
4. What changed this week?
Compare acme.com's website traffic for the last 7 days with the 7 days
before (use days=7 and days=14). Which sources and pages grew or dropped the
most? Keep it to five bullet points with numbers.Tools used: get_website_analytics.
5. Weekly growth report for Slack (n8n)
Write a weekly growth report for acme.com: visitors, top 3 sources, top 3
pages, signups, and the 3 links with the most clicks in the last 7 days.
Plain text, under 150 words, no tables. To send it every Monday:
- In n8n, add a Schedule Trigger set to every week, Monday morning.
- Add an AI Agent node with your chat model, and paste the prompt above as its prompt.
- Attach an MCP Client Tool node to the agent's Tool input: Endpoint
https://useclick.io/api/mcp, Server Transport HTTP Streamable, Authentication Bearer with your useClick API key. - Add a Slack node that sends the agent's output to your channel.
- Run the workflow once to check the report, then activate it.
Quotas and caching
- Analytics tools (
get_link_analytics,get_website_analytics,get_custom_events) count against a daily quota per plan: 25 a day on Free, 100 on Starter, 300 on Growth, 1,000 on Pro and 5,000 on Business. - The same question within five minutes returns a cached answer and does not count. Ask once, then follow up in the same chat.
- Link management tools only count against the per-minute rate limit.
