What are Campaigns?

Campaigns in UseClick are organizational containers that group related links together for a specific marketing initiative, product launch, or time-bound promotion. Instead of managing hundreds of individual links, campaigns let you organize, track, and analyze groups of links as a cohesive unit.

Think of campaigns as project folders for your links—they help you stay organized, measure overall performance, and collaborate with team members on specific marketing initiatives.

Why Use Campaigns?

Organized Link Management

Group related links for specific marketing initiatives instead of searching through one long list.

Aggregate Analytics

View total clicks, conversions, and performance across all links in a campaign at once.

Team Collaboration

Share campaigns with team members and collaborate on marketing initiatives together.

Performance Tracking

Measure ROI for specific campaigns by tracking all associated links in one place.

Quick Filtering

Filter your link list by campaign to instantly see only relevant links.

Historical Analysis

Compare performance across different campaigns to identify what works best.

Best Practices for Campaign Organization

1. Use Descriptive Campaign Names

Create names that clearly identify the initiative:

  • Good: "Spring Sale 2025 - Email + Social"
  • Bad: "Campaign 3"

2. Include Timeframes in Names

Add dates or quarters to distinguish recurring campaigns:

  • "Newsletter - January 2025"
  • "Q1 Paid Ads Campaign"
  • "2025 Black Friday Sale"

3. Set Start and End Dates

Track campaign duration for historical analysis:

  • Know exactly when campaigns ran
  • Compare performance across similar timeframes
  • Calculate campaign ROI accurately

4. Keep Campaigns Focused

Don't create overly broad campaigns:

  • Too Broad: "All 2025 Marketing" (thousands of links)
  • Just Right: "Spring Sale 2025" (50-100 links)

5. Archive Completed Campaigns

Keep your campaigns list manageable:

  • Delete or archive old campaigns after reviewing results
  • Export data before archiving for historical records
  • Focus on active campaigns in your main view

6. Combine with UTM Parameters

Use campaigns AND UTM parameters together:

  • Campaign: Organizes links in UseClick
  • UTM Campaign: Tracks in Google Analytics
  • Use the same naming convention for both
  • Example: Campaign "spring_sale_2025" with utm_campaign=spring_sale_2025

Team Collaboration with Campaigns

Sharing Campaigns (Pro/Business Plans)

Pro and Business plans support team collaboration:

  1. Add team members to your organization
  2. Team members can view and edit campaigns
  3. Assign campaigns to specific team members
  4. Track who created or modified links in a campaign

Campaign Permissions

Control who can access campaigns:

  • Owner: Full access to all campaigns
  • Admin: Can create, edit, and delete campaigns
  • Member: Can view campaigns and add links

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Campaign Not Showing in Dropdown

Problem: Can't select campaign when creating a link.

Solutions:

  • Verify you're on a Starter+ plan (campaigns not available on Free)
  • Refresh the page to reload campaign list
  • Check that the campaign wasn't accidentally deleted

Links Not Appearing in Campaign

Problem: Added links to campaign but they don't show.

Solutions:

  • Refresh the campaign page
  • Verify the link was saved with the campaign selected
  • Check if the link was moved to a different campaign

Analytics Don't Match

Problem: Campaign total clicks don't match sum of individual links.

Cause: Links may have been added or removed from the campaign.

Solution: Analytics reflect current campaign composition. Historical clicks before links were added aren't included.
