Uptime monitoring
Every website you track is checked four times a day. You get an email when it stops responding and another when it is back.
On this page9
Every website you add to Website Analytics is monitored automatically. useClick requests your site on a schedule, records whether it answered and how fast, and emails you when it stops responding. There is nothing to install: monitoring starts as soon as the site is added, even before the first visit is tracked.
How often your site is checked
Every site is checked four times a day, at 00:00, 06:00, 12:00 and 18:00 Berlin time (CET/CEST). The schedule is the same on every plan, for every website you track. The Uptime card on the site's page shows when the next check runs.
When a site counts as down
When a check fails, useClick tries again 15 seconds later. Only when the second try fails too is the site marked down, so a single slow response or network blip never sends an alert. A check fails when:
- the site does not answer within 10 seconds,
- the domain does not resolve (DNS), the connection is refused or the SSL handshake fails,
- the server answers with a 5xx error (500, 502, 503, 504, ...), or with 404 or 410 for the page being checked.
Redirects are followed (up to 5). Answers such as 401, 403 or 429 count as up: a login wall, a bot challenge from Cloudflare or Vercel, or rate limiting all mean your server is responding.
Email alerts
The website owner gets two emails per outage:
- "yourdomain.com is not responding", with what went wrong (for example "HTTP 503" or "Timed out after 10 s") and when it started.
- "yourdomain.com is back up", with how long it was down.
Each outage sends one email of each kind, never a stream of repeats. Because checks run every 6 hours, the "back up" email arrives with the first check after your site recovers, and the outage length is measured between checks.
What the Uptime card shows
- Status: Up, Down (with how long and why) or Checking, and when the last check ran.
- Uptime for the last 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days.
- 30 daily bars: green for a fully up day, amber for 99% or more, red below that, grey for days without checks.
- Response time over the last 24 hours, with the average.
- Recent outages with their start time, cause and duration.
A down site also shows a red Site down chip at the top of its page and in your list of websites.
Choosing the page to check
By default the home page (/) is checked over HTTPS. To check something else, such as a health endpoint or your shop's checkout page, change Page to check in the Uptime card (for example /health). The domain stays the one you added.
Allow-listing the checker
Checks come with the user agent useClick-Uptime/1.0 (+https://useclick.io/docs/uptime-monitoring). If a firewall blocks unknown clients, allow this user agent so checks are not counted as failures. Checks are never counted as visits in your analytics.
History kept
Individual checks are kept for 48 hours. Hourly uptime and response time are kept for 90 days, and outages for a year.
Ask your AI agent
With the MCP server, get_website_analytics for a single domain includes an uptime block: status, uptime for 24 hours and 30 days, average response time and, while down, since when and why.
